Just Ask Paul

What should I consider when buying a new copier?

The most important thing to consider is how many copies, faxes and documents you will print on average per month. Volume will dictate the right equipment for your needs as well as which features you need.

Consider the cost of supplies before you buy the machine.  Many machines look like a great deal, because they have a low purchase price.  However, they may have an expensive toner cartridge that needs to be frequently replaced.

How can I stop getting lines on my printed pages and faxes received?

Replace the imaging cartridge if it is a small cartridge type machine.
If problem persists or it is a larger non cartridge type machine, give
us a call at (480) 969-3098.

What can I do about lines appearing on copied documents?

Lines on copied documents may be caused by ink or white out stuck on glass, and will need to be cleaned off.  To clean off white out use alcohol then a glass cleaner like Windex to finish the job. Put the cleaner you use on a paper towel so as not to pour too much on glass as it may seep into equipment causing damage internally. Sometimes you may need to visually locate the spot and manually scrape it off.

Note: Most new model equipment will have more than one piece of glass and you need to clean both.  If the problem persists, give us a call at (480) 969-3098.

How can I fix a paper jam when paper is found inside?

Make sure you check all areas for paper and remove ALL paper present. If paper tears or you can’t get it out, do not dig for it with letter opener or any hard or sharp tool as this may add to a more costly repair as you may damage your equipment.

Check to see if the paper in your paper tray or cassette is installed correctly. Check paper weight or thickness and condition of your paper. Usually 20lb. is recommended.  If the problem persists, give us a call at (480) 969-3098.

I have a paper jam with no paper found inside. How do I fix this?

One of two things may be the problem.

First check the paper tray-cassette and make sure your paper is installed correctly.

Then check to see if the paper size matches the setting of your machine or paper tray-cassette.  For example, you may be using letter sized paper on the legal setting.  Many machines have a setting on the paper tray-cassette that must match the paper that is in the tray-cassette.

Check to see if the paper is damaged-bent or curled.

Make sure that the paper is the correct weight.  For most machines 20lb. is recommended. If the problem persists, give us a call at (480) 969-3098.
